1976 VW  super beetle fuel injection trouble shooting

Update: October 19, 2019

After acquiring an old VW workshop manual, troubleshooting lead to testing the double relay which turned out to be faulty. I replaced it and is now running on its own. It was idling really high so I adjusted the throttle. It idled better until I hit the gas pedal and the throttle is staying almost fully open. The issue I am dealing with is that the "doghouse" cooling shroud is from a carbureted engine. I had to re-rout the throttle channel tube position that goes through the doghouse. Hopefully some adjusting will help with this issue

Update: September 8, 2019

After a bit of a break from working on my project vacationing and other honey-do-list projects, I was able to get back to it. I was able to pull out and install a working cold start valve. Here is a link to my post on Thesamba.com Click the link below to my post. The video above is the Superbeetle starting because of the cold start valve and keep it running using carb cleaner. Hopefully I can get it running on its own soon.

Update: June 2, 2019

Shortly after I shot this video, I attempted to remove the cold start valve. I was able to remove the stripped screws but the valve was corroded at the down stem, i removed the top and the down stem is stuck and currently sticking about 1/2 in above to grab. I have periodically spraying penetrating oil to free the stem but may need to carefully drill it out. I have sourced a working cold start valve that should be delivered in a week.
